GUIDES, TIPS AND TRICKS
Rainbow Six Siege has a notoriously steep learning curve. Whether you’ve dabbled in the past but fell out of touch, or simply missed the boat entirely and now you want to get caught up, there’s a lot to learn to be an effective operator.
To help smooth out your transition from a green-footed grunt to a hardened Siege soldier, Doug, AKA NukemDukem put together a list of helpful tips to help you breach and clear its hyper-competitive community.
Doug, AKA NukemDukem is on YouTube and Twitch, and here are 10 essential tips from a Rainbow Six Siege expert.
BEFORE STARTING THE GAME, WATCH VIDEO TUTORIALS
If you’re new to Rainbow Six Siege the first thing you want to do when you start up the game is watch all three tutorial videos. These provide a quick overview of some of the components in the game and will give you 200 Renown each, which is the in-game currency that allows you to purchase new Operators, attachments for weapons, and in-game skins.
Then I recommend jumping into ‘Situations’, which is a PVE playground that teaches you fundamental basic controls, maps, and general gadget utility in the game. The maps here are the same in multiplayer version, so you can learn the common tactics. Each ‘Situations’ have objectives that awards bonus Renown upon completing them, don’t worry if you don’t get them the first time you can always try it again.
And don’t forget to check for daily and weekly challenges for objectives to earn extra Renown rewards as you complete them. Being a well-equipped Operator could mean the difference between life and death.
GET WARMED UP BEFORE YOU GET BLOWN UP
Before hoping into multiplayer I always warm up in Terrorist Hunt – a PVE game mode where you go up against AI enemies. It’s a good way to practice head shot aiming on stationary and on moving targets. And, again, you can work on daily and weekly challenges to earn more Renown in this mode.
FRIENDS DON’T LET FRIENDS GET SPAWN PEEKED
Nothing is worse than getting killed at a start of a round because of an enemy peeking into your spawn area. The best way to counter this is to place a drone during prep phase at common spawn peek locations.
If you spot a defender near there call it out to your teammates, so you guys can counter it at the beginning of the round. But even if there are no spawn peekers, try shooting couple bullets into barricaded doors and windows at the start of the round anyway. Occasionally you might even score a lucky head shot because when you ADS (Aim Down Sight) your cross hair is already at head shot level when standing, crouching, and when in prone.
LOOK BELOW THE BARRICADES
Before breaching a door look beneath the barricade to see if any enemies are behind it. Generally, high-rank players don’t equip regular breaching charges since it exposes your feet underneath the barricade. When entering a room do a quick peek at common camping spots, and sometimes it’s better to pre-fire those places, giving you an advantage over the camper when it comes to fire fights.
ASK FOR HELP
Lastly, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Generally, the Rainbow Six Siege community understands the game has a very steep learning curve. If you let your team know that you are new to the game they’re more likely respond kindly, rather than running headfirst into a kill zone and handicapping the team. If you don’t know what to do, ask! It’s a great way to make new friends who can teach you the game.
Hopefully these tips were helpful for you to get better at Rainbow Six Siege. This is Doug, also known as NukemDukem, signing off!
